I agree, the fighting has to stop. Now is the time to work together.

Well I would think Fire and building coads would be easy enough to check on (And probably have been)......Special needs children and NCLB is interesting but i honistly don't see how it will be a hang up in that as far as I can see it is not raelly school specific
I DO think we will see the 3 New Schools on 3 Sights take traction again at some point in the near future
The Building Code issue has no legs to stand on, as that was Rivers "tool" he was claiming he could use and was told by the Board attorney, that the schools fall under bulding code of when they were built as there have not been major renovations done that they have to bring to current building codes.
I'm more curious when they will force Coeburn back to the LPD for next 2 years until the ****enson schools finish there consolodation, been told the VHSL has told Coeburn if Wise Co. merged the 3 small into the larger they will be moved whether they want to or not by Fall sports season.
I also wonder when closing these 3 with the intent of making new school projects down the road, what happens when you rename these schools this fall,do you keep that same name when you build the new ones in a few years? It would be absurd to have these schools called something and that school/name go defunct in 5 years. Also, what happens with the uniforms these coaches have already ordered? Who foots the bill to order the new ones? Guess we could have a nostalgia auction:confused:. Whatta mess this whole clusterfrig is going to be.
They should keep the same school names IMO until new buildings are built.
Yep - for many reasons...
1.) pretty much too late to get new fb unis
2.) the "losers" will have a reason to keep complaining for NEW schools to be built
3.) who decides the new names & nicks? Would they be kept with a move? Of course not, because they were "forced" to change.
1.) Depends on how much upgrading will be done. If they are NOT planning to build new ones soon, all 3 buildings will need a LOT of work to last 20-30 more years, and those new codes WILL need to be met, and I don't see it all happening in just 10 weeks this Summer. I''d think they will do minimum work for to get 5-10 more years and build new ones soon.
2.) I don't agree with that. The VHSL has allowed 4-team districts in the past (see BDD) - that's a Regional-level decision... they don't try to even things out. Now, maybe the REGIONAL board decided that, since Coeburn would be a lot larger than any of the other Cumberland schools (they were already Div. 2 in fb last cycle).
I kind of wondered if Coeburn would have wanted to go back to the LPD if this happened. That might be tough for them schedule wise though for next year if that is the case.
JIB and Clintwood both asked the VHSL to intervene because of scheduling. You already got schools avoiding playing either team that why they asked them to do something and their response is to put Coeburn back in, like what was in the Coalfield article for 2-3 years, just not been public yet. BDD was 4 teams for football only, this merger of 6 into 3 affects all sports in the LPD not just one.
